Estate

Somerstown Private Estate is made up of 65 freehold houses and 87 leasehold flats. Each home owner holds one share in the Somerstown Management Company, which owns the freehold of the estate.

Volunteer directors from among these home owners together with professional advisors from the managing agent make decisions about the running of the estate on everyone’s behalf. A newsletter is produced by the directors twice a year to let residents know what is happening and plans for the future.

AGM

All owners are invited to an Annual General Meeting, usually held in February each year.

Service Charges

All 152 home owners pay an estate service charge which covers the cost of running the company, maintaining the communal gardens, trees, boundary walls, paving, etc. Flat owners make a further payment to cover the communal areas of the flats’ buildings, such as cleaning, building maintenance, fire precautions and building insurance. This service charge runs annually from 1 October to 30 September.

Somerstown Management Company

The aims of the Management Company are:

To have an estate that Somerstown residents are proud of;
To maintain a high standard in the upkeep of a green and safe estate;
To ensure that there are clear standards and that residents know what to expect from the estate management team;
To ensure services deliver value for money and it is clear what is being charged for;
To encourage residents to take responsibility for their environment/estate.
